Ambassadors

Community Initiatives

All Ambassadors are required to carry out a project while going through the Program. The objective of an Ambassador's community initiative is to address and resolve a specific problem within his/her Native community.

AIO formally tracked the progress of the 2006/07 Ambassador projects through three publications, noting progress, next steps, and overcoming challenges. The final outcomes and progress were published in the AIO Annual Report.

AIO has published the first of three publications highlighting the 2008/09 class.

Visit Community Initiative Reports to download these publications.

"I believe that my story illustrates the type of deep development and advocacy for both personal leadership and institution building that AIO has come to represent in Indian Country. It’s my opinion that if you look at many of the innovative programs and initiatives in Indian Country, that you will find an AIO Ambassador behind it."

- Janeen Comenote (Quinault/Hesquiaht/Kwakuitl/Oglala) Class of 1999
