Over the past 39 years, Americans for Indian Opportunity (AIO) has brought people together to discuss provoking issues and to work on complex problems. The Ambassadors Program, AIO’s leadership initiative, and ILIS, AIO’s facilitation process, were born through the collective widsom of Indigenous and non-indigenous peoples.

AIO continues to draw upon traditional Indigenous philosophies to foster value-based leadership, inspire stakeholder-driven solutions, and convene visionary leaders to probe contemporary issues and address the challenges of the new century. AIO seeks to create new avenues for international Indigenous interaction, and explore ways Indigenous peoples can influence globalization.

Indigenous peoples must be the primary participants inventing their own cultural solutions for meeting the challenges of the 21st century.
