AIO ProjectsInternational Indigenous Network““We are committed to helping build an international Indigenous network that will prevent globalization from becoming just another form of colonization but a great opportunity to strengthen and share our Indigeneity.” Through the AIO Ambassadors Program, a network of 187 Native American leaders has been created. In New Zealand, after AIO travelled there in 2002, the Advancement of Maori Opportunity (AMO) was created and began the Maori Ambassadors Program with a network of over 100 leaders. AIO and AMO are working with Bolivia, Japan and other Latin American countries to further the dream of empowering Indigenous leaders to be pro-active global change agents, by expanding the values of the Ambassadors Program to an international level. AIO and its collaborators have a vision of an international network of Indigenous leaders –the Advancement of Global Indigeneity-- that will work together across boundaries, identify common causes and find new ways to address challenges and opportunities of the new century. This will ensure that Indigenous peoples are the victors and not the victims of globalization. |
