AIO ProjectsThe Advancement of Maori OpportunityThe Advancement of Maori Opportunity (AMO) is AIO’s sister organization in Aotearoa (New Zealand). The relationship between a group of Maori leaders and AIO began when the 2001/02 Ambassadors Class visited Aotearoa igniting the formation of AMO and the Maori Ambassadors Program. To date, AMO has had six Maori Ambassador Classes creating a network of over one hundred Maori leaders. In 2007, AIO and AMO conducted a joint international gathering to Bolivia with Maori and Native American Ambassadors. In 2008, AIO and AMO participated jointly in the Indigenous Peoples Summit in Hokkaido Japan, hosted by the Ainu community. Later that year, AMO returned to Bolivia, with Maori Ambassadors and AIO staff, to continue the dialogue and nurture the relationships with Indigenous nations and communities.
